(1)中国校园减盐教育计划;

(2)印度全国减盐计划循证医学建设;

(3)秘鲁利用食盐替代品的降压实践;

Hello –

This week’s CDC Salt e-Update includes an update on four sodium reduction projects presented at the Global Alliance for Chronic Disease’s annual scientific meeting.

The Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD) held its 5th Annual Scientific Meeting in Sydney, Australia in October. GACD is a collection of the world’s biggest public research funding agencies, who coordinate and support research activities that address the prevention and treatment of NCDs or chronic non-communicable diseases, on a global scale. The meeting included reports on the four salt reduction projects that were funded as part of the GACD Hypertension round in 2012. These include:

(1) A school-based education program to reduce salt intake in China;

(2) Developing the evidence base for a national program to reduce salt in India;

(3) Salt substitutes to reduce blood pressure in Peru, and;

(4) Cost-effectiveness of salt reduction strategies in the Pacific Islands.

These projects have now either ended or are nearing completion and the results will be published in due course.

Thank you for your continued engagement in sodium reduction.

We are sending this information in an effort to inform our stakeholders of relevant sodium reduction efforts that are occurring. The purpose of this communication is to provide continued follow up with stakeholders and create a network of partners working on and interested in sodium reduction. The Salt e-Update will be sent every two weeks. For questions or comments, or to be added or removed from this communication, contact Jessica Mullen.
